Movement disorders and other annoying things

There are a number of conditions that may improve with botulinum toxin injections to relieve involuntary muscle overactivity and spasm. Because some of these conditions often affect high functioning individuals, ultrasound guidance is paramount to improve the accuracy of the treatment and reduce the risk of unwanted side effects.

Musician’s dystonia:

  • Dystonia affecting the upper limb which may affect those who play instruments such as piano, drums, brass and guitar.

Chronic exertional compartment syndome:

Writer’s cramp:

  • Dystonia affecting the upper limb that occurs while writing or typing causing uncontrolled involuntary movements and possibly tremor.

  • A form of dystonia affecting lower limb muscles while running that isn’t painful in itself but causes ankle and toe joint positions that can cause discomfort.
